Buffalo Bill’s Casino Closes Indefinitely on CA-NV Border

Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino, located on the California-Nevada border in Primm, is closing indefinitely, marking the second casino closure by Affinity Interactive in the area within a year. The Clark County Commission approved the closure last week, following the earlier shutdown of Whiskey Pete’s casino in March. However, Buffalo Bill’s will remain open for at least one eight-hour day per quarter until June 29, 2027, to retain its gaming license, as mandated by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

The casino, known for its log flume ride and Desperado roller coaster, will focus on hosting concerts and special events approximately eight to ten times per year. According to Affinity Interactive, the closure is due to reduced post-pandemic traffic, with most business occurring on weekends. The company plans to concentrate its operations on the nearby Primm Valley Resort and Casino, the only remaining operational resort in Primm.

The closure is part of a broader strategy to reposition Primm as a gateway for Southern Californians traveling to Nevada. Affinity Interactive has also expressed hopes that a new airport between Jean and Primm will boost business, though construction is not expected to begin for several years. The airport is projected to open by 2037.

SFGATE reported that Buffalo Bill’s will periodically open for concerts and special events. Meanwhile, CDC Gaming noted that the closure is temporary, with the potential for extensions. The Las Vegas Review-Journal highlighted the company’s plans to enhance the Primm Valley Resort with new brands and improvements to attract travelers.
