Brush Fire Prompts Evacuations in Burbank

BURBANK (CNS) – A brush fire broke out Tuesday in Burbank, prompting evacuation orders and warnings as firefighters worked to stop its spread.

The blaze was reported around 3:38 p.m. near Amherst Drive and Bethany Road, according to the Burbank Fire Department.

While the fire was not initially threatening structures, officials later ordered evacuations.

Evacuation warnings were issued for the area between Irving Drive and Magnolia Boulevard, just north of Kenneth Road. An evacuation order was issued for Walnut Avenue above Bel Air Drive, as well as areas above Bel Aire Ballfield, including Bel Aire Drive, Vista Ridge and Starlight Circle, according to the fire department.

The McCambridge Recreation Center at 1515 N. Glenoaks Boulevard was designated as the evacuation site.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation, and there was no immediate word on how many acres had burned as of late afternoon.
