PACIFIC PALISADES (CNS) – A brush fire burning in Pacific Palisades Wednesday has increased from approximately 3-4 acres to 8-9 acres, the Los Angeles Fire Department reports.
Fire crews responded at 12:17 a.m. to 1699 Via Las Palmas near Via La Costa where they encountered the flames amid 15 mile an hour winds, said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
According to reports from the scene, the fire is threatening multiple homes.
LAFD Air Operations has a window in the weather conditions and is now launching multiple helicopters, fire authorities said. The Los Angeles County Fire Department has sent one of its helicopters — Copter 22 — which is making water drops on the fire, Stewart said.
LACFD is also sending four camp crews to the scene and firefighters are coordinating directly with residents of the affected homes.
Firefighters have a structural defense in place at the southeast end of Via Pacifica and Via La Costa, Stewart said.
At 2:45am Los Angeles Fire Department officials said that “using three LAFD helicopters and LACoFD Copter 22 making continuous water drops, LAFD firefighters on the ground and LACoFD Hand Crews, crews are making good progress. There are no structures damaged, no injuries reported and currently no evacuation orders in place.”
