Braga Fresh Foods has voluntarily recalled a lot of its 12-ounce Marketside Broccoli Florets due to potential listeria contamination. The recall affects Walmart stores in 20 states, including California, Texas, and Illinois. The recall notice, shared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), states that the contamination was discovered during random sampling by Texas Health & Human Services. No illnesses have been reported so far.
The recalled broccoli bags, which have a “best if used by” date of December 10, 2024, are no longer available for sale. Consumers who have these bags should discard them and not consume the product. The affected bags have a UPC code of 6 81131 32884 5 and a lot code of BFFG327A6.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, especially in pregnant people, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises seeking medical attention if symptoms occur after consuming recalled products.
