A tragic accident at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl on March 29. The victim, identified as Adelyn “Addie” Grimes from Reno, Nevada, was struck by a falling boulder while climbing a natural slope near the Diamond Peak Lodge.
According to a statement from the resort, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Emergency services were alerted to the non-skiing accident, and the Diamond Peak Ski Patrol responded immediately to provide first aid. Despite their efforts, and those of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Grimes did not survive her injuries. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner ruled her death an accident.
The Diamond Peak Ski Resort family expressed their deep sorrow and extended condolences to the Grimes family. The Incline Village General Improvement District and Diamond Peak are offering counseling and support services to staff affected by the incident.
