Another Name ‘Unlikely To Return’ To ‘Sunday Night Football’: Report

Fantasy football expert Matthew Berry is reportedly “unlikely to return” to NBC SportsSunday Night Football pregame show Football Night in America for the 2026 NFL season, Awful Announcing‘s Sam Neumann reported on Tuesday (April 21).

Berry, who left ESPN after 15 years partly due to the network wanting him to shut down his Fantasy Life brand, joined NBC Sports in August 2022 and contributed to both Football Night in America and both weekly and daily fantasy football shows on Peacock in Fantasy Football Happy Hour and Fantasy Football Pregame as part of a formal partnership between his brand and NBC‘s Rotoworld that began in 2024. Berry ended his Love/Hate column after 25 years last August, claiming he wanted to refocus on what mattered most outside of football.

Berry’s reported departure came one month after Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Dungy confirmed the “disappointing news” that he won’t be returning to Football Night in America after 17 seasons. Dungy’s departure from Football Night in America was reported by the Athletic last month amid plans to revamp the program amid several contracts expiring after Super Bowl LX.

Awful Announcing previously reported that former Super Bowl champion safety Rodney Harrison and co-host Jac Collinsworth, the son of lead in-game analyst Cris Collinsworth, were also unlikely to return next season. Former Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will reportedly be joining NBC as a studio analyst for its Sunday Night Football pregame show during the 2026 NFL season, the Athletic‘s Andrew Marchand reported on Tuesday.

Host Maria Taylor and analysts Devin McCourty and Jason Garrett are also expected to return in 2026.
