Anaheim Police Investigating Suspected Homicide in Park

ANAHEIM (CNS) – The body of a man believed to be a local transient was found in an Anaheim park Tuesday, triggering a homicide investigation.

Police were called at 7 a.m. to Ponderosa Park at 320 E. Orangewood Ave. when someone saw the body, Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer said.

Officers responding believe the victim was a transient known to frequent the area, Carringer said.

When coroner’s officials examined the body later in the morning they saw “signs of trauma indicative of a homicide,” Carringer said.

The victim, who was in his 40s, was not identified as authorities were working to confirm his identity, Carringer said.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at 714-765-1900. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at (855) TIP-OCCS.
