‘America’s Kindest Husband’ Now Suspected Of Killing Wife

A man who was once dubbed as “America’s kindest husband” is now suspected of killing her.

Timothy Murphy-Johnson, 40, a United Kingdom native and computer game designer based in California, who went viral for writing a 15-point list of reasons he loved his wife, Molly Gelman, on his bedroom mirror prior to her death in 2017, was given a life sentence for holding a 16-year-old girl captive last month in an incident Gelman’s family believes is eerie similar to her death, the Times of London reported. Gelman, who met Murphy-Johnson on the online dating site OK Cupid in 2012, allegedly disclosed that her husband raped her and forced her into prostitution, calling their marriage abusive and manipulative.

Gelman specifically claimed that Murphy-Johnson threatened to kill her with an overdose and stage it as a suicide in a court filing prior to her death, which obtained by the Times of London.

“He threatened to kill me (and make it look like a suicide) … physically assaulted me by kicking my back/stomach, punching my head/arms, pushing me down and stealing my purse, money and phone to prevent me getting away,” the court document states.

Gelman eventually withdrew the application, which her childhood friend, Anna-Marie Anderson believes was done because “Tim either provided her with drugs or forced her to take them.”

“She was brilliant, extremely educated on medication and drugs, and in my opinion, she would not go out that way,” Anderson said.
