INDUSTRY (CNS) – A 1-year-old baby was allegedly taken from his mother at knifepoint Sunday by the child’s father and paternal grandparents at a retail store in the city of Industry, prompting an Amber Alert.
The California Highway Patrol issued the Amber Alert on behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after Dragan Antonescu and his parents allegedly kidnapped 1-year-old Enzo Antonescu around noon Sunday at a Target store at 17751 Colima Road, south of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the LASD.
The 20-year-old suspect held a knife while his father — 48-year-old Viorel Lllie — and his mother — 40-year-old Marioara Llie — “physically assaulted” the baby’s mother and abducted the child, Sgt. W. LeFever of the Industry Sheriff’s Station told City News Service.
The three suspects were last seen with the baby in a dark gray 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan with California license plate 9SLF463, according to the LASD. There was reason to believe they may be headed to Colorado.
Dragon Antonescu is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a black shirt and black pants. He should be considered armed and dangerous, sheriff’s officials said.
Enzo Antonescu is 1 foot, 8 inches tall, 22 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. It was unclear what he was wearing.
The baby’s mother, whose name was withheld, was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries from the assault, LeFever said.
Anyone who sees the victim or the alleged abductors was urged to call 911.
