LOS ANGELES (CNS) – An Amber Alert was in effect Tuesday in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego counties for a 4-year-old girl who was believed to be abducted in Los Angeles by her father, reportedly a suspect in the murder of the girl’s mother.
Daleza Fregoso was believed to be with Ruben Fregoso, 40. They were last seen at about 4 a.m. Sunday in the area of Alsace Avenue and Ferndale Street in Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued an Amber Alert Monday on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Land Rover Discovery SUV they were in was reportedly found near the San Ysidro crossing at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Ruben Fregoso was described as approximately 5-feet-9 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
The child is 3-feet tall and weighs 45 pounds. She also has black hair and brown eyes.
The LAPD believes Fregoso killed the child’s mother inside her home on Alsace Avenue, according to a broadcast report.
A spokesman at the LAPD’s Media Relations Division said he could not confirm details about the case and was awaiting an update from the department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.
Anyone who spots Fregoso or the child was urged to call 911.
The CHP describes Amber Alerts as “the most serious alerts we can issue involving children.” They require specific evidence that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
