Alleged Drunk Driver Plows Into Gate At Airport, Tries To Board Plane

A man from Holly Hill, Florida, is facing serious charges after allegedly driving his car through a gate at Daytona Beach International Airport and attempting to board a plane. The incident occurred on Wednesday (March 25) around 4:25 p.m., according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Bryan J. Parker, reportedly crashed his blue Ford Mustang through the airport gate and drove onto the taxiway, nearly hitting a taxiing Embry-Riddle plane. Witnesses said Parker then exited his vehicle and attempted to enter the occupied plane but was unsuccessful.

Parker continued his erratic behavior by running towards other aircraft in the area. An airport operations technician managed to pull him out of a plane and detained him on a truck’s tailgate. However, Parker jumped off and ran toward another plane before being apprehended again by airport staff and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University security personnel.

Parker admitted to being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, claiming he could not recall the events leading up to the incident. He now faces multiple charges, including attempted aircraft piracy, burglary of a conveyance, felony trespass, indecent exposure, criminal mischief, DUI with damage, and refusal to submit to DUI testing. He is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail.

The FBI and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Domestic Security Unit are involved in the ongoing investigation. Despite the disruption, airport operations at Daytona Beach International Airport have resumed.
