Agents Seize 300 Pounds of Meth in Solar Panels at LAX

Federal agents at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) have seized nearly 300 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within a shipment of solar panels. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the bust on Monday, revealing that officers discovered the drugs concealed between layers of duct tape and aluminum foil wrapped around the panels.

The shipment was destined for New Zealand, and CBP agents were able to intercept it due to prior intelligence. Despite the significant discovery, details remain limited, and CBP has not disclosed the exact location or time of the interception, nor have they confirmed any arrests related to the attempted smuggling.

According to ABC27, CBP shared on social media that such operations are routine for their officers, stating, “These ‘criminal masterminds’ never stood a chance.”

The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by CBP to combat drug smuggling at major transportation hubs like LAX. As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to release more information about the case and any potential suspects involved.
