Actor T.K. Carter, best known for roles in the horror film The Thing and the television series Punky Brewster, has died at the age of 69, ABC News reports.
Carter was found unresponsive by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in Durarte, California on Friday (January 9) and declared dead at the scene. Police haven’t publicly disclosed a cause of death or additional details, but said foul play wasn’t suspected.
Carter’s acting career spanned nearly five decades with his first credited role coming in the television series Police Woman in 1976 and his last acting credits including recurring roles on the television shows Dave and The Company You Keep in 2023. The veteran actor appeared in 13 episodes of the show Just Our Luck in 1983 and 13 episodes as a voiceover actor in the show Turbo Teen before landing a recurring roles as Mike Fulton on Punky Brewster for 24 episodes in 1985 and 1986.
Carter’s other television acting credits include Good Times, The Waltons, The Jeffersons, Just Our Luck, 227, Good Morning, Miss Bliss (Saved by the Bell: The Junior High Years), Family Matters, The Sinbad Show, Moesha, The Steve Harvey Show and The Nanny, as well as voice roles in The Transformers and Jem. The actor played rollerskating chef Nauls in John Carpenter‘s horror classic The Thing in 1982 and is also credit for film roles in Seems Like Old Times (1980), Southern Comfort (1981), Doctor Detroit (1983), Ski Patrol (1990), Space Jam (1996) and My Favorite Martian (1999).
