Actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, who recently made his film debut in the live action version of Lilo & Stitch, has died, according to a post shared by his sister, Jalene Kanani Bell, on her Facebook account Sunday (June 15).
“It is with a heavy heart I share that my sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant and handsome little brother David H.K. Bell will spend today in the company of our Heavenly Father. I’ve been waiting for the words and mindset to properly express the joy of a human, and Prince of a Man he was, but fate pushed my hand this morning by a pre-scheduled Father’s Day newsletter honoring the men in our lives,” she wrote.
Bell, who is listed as a member of SAF-AFTRA, played “Big Hawaiian Dude” in the recently released live-action adaptation of the 2002 animated Disney classic Lilo & Stitch. The actor had previously appeared in episodes of the CBS television series Hawaii Five-o and Magnum P.I. and his Facebook also indicated that he was working on additional projects.
Bell’s IMDb Pro page states that he was in post-production for the forthcoming Amazon MGM Studios action-comedy The Wrecking Crew starring Dave Bautista and Jason Mamoa as odd couple half-brothers working together to solve the conspiracy behind their father’s murder in Hawaii. Various media outlets reported that Bell was either age 46 or 57 at the time of his death.
