The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is marking its fifth anniversary Sunday with a full day of free admission, movies, dancing and family-friendly activities.
The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with admission available on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required.
Visitors will have access to the museum’s galleries and exhibitions, including “Studio Ghibli’s PONYO.”
Special anniversary activities include a ribbon-making station from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., where guests can create personalized ribbons inspired by their favorite films.
For anyone ready to trade the red carpet for dancing boots, Bootleg Linedance will host beginner-friendly line dancing workshops at 1 and 3 p.m. on the Walt Disney Company Piazza. Each session will last about 30 minutes.
Food will also be part of the celebration. Fresh Fruit by Ruth will serve esquites and aguas frescas from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., while Fanny’s will offer tacos and other food for purchase from noon to 5 p.m.
Movie fans can also catch a free 35mm screening of Steven Spielberg’s “Munich” at 2 p.m. in the David Geffen Theater. The 2005 drama, starring Eric Bana, earned five Academy Award nominations, including best picture and best director.
