A small black bear surprised employees at the Crestline Village Water District office in San Bernardino County when it wandered in on Wednesday around 12:15 p.m.
The bear was caught on video standing on its hind legs to push open the office door, as reported by NBC Los Angeles.
Office manager Josselyn Bryan described the bear’s brief visit, noting that it lingered in the lobby for about two minutes before entering the office area. “Once he stood up and he saw me, he quickly just turned around and walked back out,” Bryan said. The bear left only a few nose prints and caused no damage. “We had the AC going, so it was probably nice on a warm day,” she added.
The incident comes amid a rise in bear sightings in the region. Earlier this summer, a 19-year-old was attacked by a bear in Crestline, as reported by KTLA. Residents have expressed concerns about the increased bear activity, which officials attribute to the warmer months.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife advises residents to stay alert and remove attractants from their properties. They continue to monitor bear activity in the area to ensure public safety.
