Apple Says A Bug Caused iPhones To Type ‘Trump’ When Users Said ‘Racist’

Apple has addressed a bug in its iPhone voice-to-text feature that caused the word “Trump” to appear when users said “racist.” The issue, which affected some iPhones, was linked to the speech recognition model that powers the dictation feature. The company announced the fix on Wednesday (February 25), after several users reported the glitch on social media.

The bug caused the system to briefly suggest “Trump” when users spoke words with “R” consonants. Apple did not provide an explanation for why President Trump’s name was suggested, but confirmed that the error was due to phonetic overlap in the speech recognition model.

Apple is rolling out a fix to resolve the issue, ensuring that the dictation feature correctly transcribes words.

This incident comes as Apple plans to invest over $500 billion in the United States and hire 20,000 people over the next four years, amid President Trump’s tariff threats. Apple shareholders recently rejected a proposal to align with Trump’s efforts to eliminate corporate diversity programs.
