The senator shared details of the incident on his Facebook page, explaining that he fell while walking down a hill to his dock in Bismarck. He does not recall the fall itself, only remembering arriving at the Sanford Health emergency room with his wife, Kris.
Doctors diagnosed Cramer with a severe concussion and a slight brain bleed after conducting a CT scan and other tests. They treated a laceration on his head with staples to stop the bleeding. Cramer is currently resting at home, following his doctor’s advice to take a break from his duties in Washington, D.C. He mentioned experiencing bad headaches and is taking anti-seizure medication as part of his recovery.
Cramer has not provided a specific timeline for his return to the Senate, stating that his recovery will be assessed on a day-to-day basis. He expressed gratitude for the well-wishes he received from supporters on social media. This is not the first time Cramer has been injured while doing yard work; in June 2022, he crushed two fingers while moving a rock at his home.
