8-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Left In Hot Car While Mom Went To Work

A North Carolina woman was arrested for allegedly leaving her eight-year-old daughter, who later died, in a hot car. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said that 36-year-old Ashlee Stallings left her daughter in her car while she was at work on Wednesday (June 26).

According to WBTV, it was the hottest day of the year, with a high temperature of 99 degrees.

Stallings told police that she left the car running with the air conditioning on. However, she believes her daughter got cold and turned off the car.

When Stallings went to check on her daughter, she found her on the floor in the backseat, foaming at the mouth. She used a hammer to break a window and then started driving to the hospital. However, she stopped at a local business and asked for help.

The young girl was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead the next day.

Stallings was taken into custody and charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse by willful act causing serious injury.
