President Trump Asks SpaceX To ‘Go Get’ Astronauts Stranded In Space

President Donald Trump has requested SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to expedite the return of two NASA astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, from the International Space Station (ISS). The astronauts have been on the ISS since June 2024, following a prolonged mission due to issues with Boeing’s Starliner capsule.

The astronauts were initially scheduled for a brief eight-day mission. However, technical problems with the Starliner capsule’s propulsion system led to their extended stay. NASA had planned to return them on SpaceX’s Crew-9 capsule, which is currently docked at the ISS, but recent delays in the Crew-10 mission have postponed their return.

President Trump announced his directive on Truth Social, stating, “I have just asked Elon Musk and SpaceX to ‘go get’ the 2 brave astronauts who have been virtually abandoned in space by the Biden Administration.”

Musk confirmed the request on his social media platform, X, promising to bring the astronauts home “as soon as possible.”
