A youth leader at a megachurch in Abilene, Texas, was arrested on child pornography charges. The Abilene Police Department said that a member of Beltway Park Church contacted them with concerns about Charles Goff, who volunteered at the church as a youth leader for the past three years.
The church member told the police that Goff admitted to them that he was addicted to pornography, specifically underage girls between the ages of 14 and 15.
When detectives interviewed Goff, he told them he would contact underage girls on social media and ask them for nude photos and videos. Investigators searched his phone and found three pornographic videos of underage girls.
He was taken into custody and charged with possession of child pornography. He was taken to Taylor County Jail, where he remains locked up on a $100,000 bond.
Beltway Park Church issued a statement saying there is no evidence that any members of the congregation were victimized by Goff.
“We currently have no indication that any minors from our church were involved in any inappropriate activity with this former volunteer,” the statement said.
“We remain committed to doing everything in our power to support the ongoing investigation. We have tremendous grief for any children in any location who may be proven to have been harmed by this person’s actions,” the statement continued.
