A helicopter pilot lost control seconds after taking off from Pearland Regional Airport near Houston, Texas, on Sunday (October 27) afternoon.
The Robinson R44 helicopter fell from the sky as part of the tail broke off. The helicopter then spun out of control and crashed into a small plane that was parked nearby.
After hitting the front of the plane, the helicopter briefly stopped, but the rotor blades continued to spin, causing significant damage to the aircraft and the helicopter. Once the broken blades stopped spinning, bystanders rushed over to check on the pilot of the helicopter.
They helped the pilot out of the destroyed helicopter as they discussed the crash.
According to KTXH, the pilot was uninjured in the violent crash, though paramedics were called to the airport to check on him as a precaution.
Officials have not said what caused the pilot to lose control. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
