Travis Kelce-Hosted Prime Video Game Show Begins Streaming Wednesday

CULVER CITY (CNS) – The Travis Kelce-hosted game show, “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” begins streaming on Prime Video Wednesday with three episodes.

The show is billed as a spinoff of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” which aired on Fox from 2007-09 and 2015, in syndication from 2009-11 and Nickelodeon in 2019.

In the new version, an adult contestant will rely on a classroom full of celebrities to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects, pulled from elementary curriculum, in an effort to win a $100,000 prize.

For the final question, which will always be on the sixth-grade level, the contestant selects one celebrity to discuss the answer with before locking in.

The “Celebrity Classmates” are comedians Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer and Ron Funches; “Thursday Night Football” analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick; former NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco; “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Garcelle Beauvais; “Vanderpump Rules” cast member Lala Kent; podcaster Sophia Stallone, a daughter of actor Sylvester Stallone, and actress and producer Lilly Singh

“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with `Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity,”‘ Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end best known as the boyfriend of pop star Taylor Swift, said in a statement.

The executive producers include Mark Burnett, who has produced “Survivor,” “The Apprentice,” “Shark Tank” and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”

“After producing more than 3,000 episodes of `Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?’ globally, we wanted to come up with a new, loud twist on the format,” Barry Poznick, a co-creator of the series with John Steven and general manager of MGM Alternative, its producer, said in a statement.

“Replacing the kids with celebrities gives us more laughs and surprises, like a roast, as contestants cheat off their famous classmates. And now, with the ultimate class clown, Travis Kelce, hosting, viewers should expect the unexpected.”

Twenty episodes have been ordered with a new episode released each Wednesday as part of Prime Video’s “Winning Wednesday” programming lineup which also consists of the business competition, “Buy It Now,” which premieres Oct. 30; “Wish List Games,” where contestants play for the chance to win everything on their Amazon Wish Lists, premiering Nov. 20; and “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” where teams of three will need to be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya. It will premiere Dec. 4.
