LANCASTER (CNS) – Los Angeles County firefighters appear to have gotten a handle on the Max Fire, but not before the fire scorched an estimated 500 acres of brush and burned some structures and cars in Lancaster Sunday.
The fire grew to the edge of Lancaster’s residential area and burned some out buildings that were reported to include a barn near the area between 80th Street West and Avenue K, ABC7 reported.
A videographer at the scene reported that sheriff’s were issuing evacuation commands from patrol vehicles, warning residents in English and in Spanish to leave the area. He also reported that helicopters were making water drops.
So far, no homes have been lost and no victims reported.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
