Eight-Year-Old Girl Takes Mom’s Car On 25-Minute Joyride To Go Shopping

A young girl was found safe after taking her mother’s car for a joyride over the weekend. The Bedford Police Department said they received a 911 call from the eight-year-old girl’s parents around 9 a.m. on Sunday (September 15) to report that she was missing.

While they began a frantic search for the young girl, the family’s neighbor checked the video footage from their Ring doorbell camera and found out what happened. The young girl was seen walking outside, getting into her mother’s 2020 Nissan Rogue, and driving away at 7 a.m.

Officers sent out a description of the vehicle and began canvassing nearby neighborhoods for the SUV. Officers in the neighboring town spotted the Rogue in a Target parking lot about 11 miles away. Officials estimated the drive would have taken about 25 minutes if the young girl was following the speed limit.

Officers found the girl inside of the Target and contacted her parents, who rushed over to pick her up. The girl was unharmed but told officers she had struck a mailbox while driving to Target.
