Two Demonstrators Arrested After Scaling Empire State Building

Two demonstrators were arrested after climbing to the top of the Empire State Building in Manhattan. The couple, known for their daring skyscraper climbs, reached the spire of the iconic building dressed in black with masks covering their faces. As reported by Betches, the climbers are believed to be Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus, who gained fame from the Netflix documentary ‘Skywalkers: A Love Story.’

The couple’s ascent was followed by a dramatic proposal, with the man reportedly getting down on one knee to propose to the woman atop the spire. According to TODAY.com, Nikolau shared a video from the spire on her Instagram Story, showcasing the breathtaking view.

Officers climbed the spire to apprehend the couple, taking them into custody for trespassing. Nikolau and Beerkus have a history of climbing some of the world’s tallest structures, often without safety equipment, as documented in their Netflix film. The couple, who met through their shared passion for rooftopping, have previously faced legal consequences for their actions, including an arrest in Paris for climbing the Basilica of Sainte-Clotilde.

Despite their risky endeavors, the couple insists they are artists capturing unique perspectives of cityscapes. They plan to continue their artistic pursuits in New York, albeit with less risky projects, focusing on music and painting.
