LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A domestic violence arrest warrant was served Wednesday at a home in South Los Angeles, leading to the discovery of a cache of fireworks inside the home that prompted evacuations of nearby houses, police said.
Officers served the warrant at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of East 85th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
One person was arrested at the scene once the warrant was served and a bomb squad was called in to investigate the fireworks cache, an officer said.
Nearby homes were evacuated during the investigation, according to reports from the scene.
The fireworks find comes after a fire in a converted garage on May 9 led to the detonation of pyrotechnics that reportedly blew a man’s body apart in the 2400 block of Ninth Avenue in the Jefferson Park area.
