Flood Threat for Millions This Week

Over 60 million people in the South and parts of Texas are facing a significant flood threat this week due to ongoing heavy rains. The region, already saturated from downpours over the Memorial Day weekend, is bracing for more severe weather. Flash flooding has been reported in North Carolina, and one person tragically lost their life in Mississippi due to the floods.

According to FOX Weather, an atmospheric firehose is expected to bring torrential rain and flash flooding risks, particularly targeting Texas and Louisiana. A Level 2 risk is in effect, indicating a moderate threat of flash flooding in these areas.

The storm systems are anticipated to affect areas from New Orleans to southern Virginia through tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, another system will impact parts of North and Central Texas today. The FOX Forecast Center warns that flash flooding could occur every day this week as the systems stall, bringing continuous heavy rain.

The situation is expected to persist through the week, with storm complexes repeatedly affecting the same areas. This could result in an additional 2 to 3 inches of rainfall through Friday, with some locations experiencing even higher amounts. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the threat of flash flooding remains high.
