Minestrone Soup Recalled Over Possible Life-Threatening Allergic Reaction

Whole Foods Market has issued a recall of its Minestrone Soup sold in 17 states and Washington, D.C., due to the presence of undeclared shrimp, which could cause life-threatening allergic reactions in some individuals. The recall affects 24-ounce cups of the soup, produced by Massachusetts-based Kettle Cuisine, and was announced earlier this week.

The affected soup was available in Whole Foods stores in states including Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, as well as through Whole Foods’ and Amazon’s online platforms. The soup can be identified by its lot code 1762181 and a use-by date of May 27, 2026, printed on the top rim of the cup. The UPC code is 099482502065.

The recall was initiated after a single cup of soup containing shrimp was discovered in-store. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), no illnesses have been reported in connection with the product. Consumers who have purchased the soup are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

For more information, customers can contact Kettle Cuisine at 617-409-1100, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
