Kitten Fights for Life After Being Set On Fire At Homeless Encampment

A kitten named Poppet Pennywhistle is fighting for her life after being set on fire at a homeless encampment, according to Milo’s Sanctuary, a animal rescue organization in Palmdale.

The incident came to light when a bystander found the four- to five-week-old kitten and took her to California Highway Patrol officers, who then rushed her to a local shelter. The shelter, which remains unnamed, transported Poppet to Milo’s Sanctuary for treatment.

Poppet, who is covered in burns, especially on her face and paws, is currently being treated in an oxygen incubator. Milo’s Sanctuary, known for rescuing and rehabilitating special needs cats and kittens, shared the heartbreaking news on their Facebook page. They reported that no arrests have been made, and authorities have no leads on who might be responsible for this cruel act.

This is not the first time Milo’s Sanctuary has dealt with such a case. Previously, they cared for a kitten named Maggie Springsong, who was brought to them with both legs cut off. No arrests have been made in that case.

To aid in Poppet’s recovery, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover her medical expenses. Donations to the fund are tax-deductible, and the community is encouraged to contribute to support Poppet’s care.
