Evacuations Ordered for Sandy Fire in Simi Valley

Authorities issued evacuation orders for residents in Simi Valley as a fire, dubbed the Sandy Fire, broke out near homes on Monday.

The blaze was reported shortly after 10 a.m. near the 600 block of Sandy Drive. Initial reports described the fire as covering at least an acre, with flames spreading rapidly due to strong winds.

Evacuation orders have been issued for Zones 32-35, encompassing areas roughly south of Royal Avenue, east of Madera Road, west of Edison Road, and north of the Albertson Fire Road. Fire crews are actively working to contain the blaze and protect nearby homes.

The Sandy Fire is the latest in a series of wildfires affecting the region, with dry conditions and high winds contributing to the fire’s rapid growth. Residents are urged to follow evacuation orders and stay informed through local news outlets and emergency services.

As of now, there are no reports of injuries or damage to structures, but the situation remains dynamic. Authorities are closely monitoring the fire’s progress and will provide updates as they become available.
