Teen E-Bike Riders Allegedly Attack Man in Huntington Beach

A group of teenage e-bike riders allegedly attacked a man on the boardwalk in Huntington Beach on Saturday night.

Sam El-Said and his wife were riding scooters after a date night when they encountered a large group of teens on e-bikes. El-Said said they slowed down due to the activity when a teen threw a glass bottle at his face, shattering it and causing minor injuries.

According to El-Said, after he stopped to assess the situation, he was knocked to the ground and assaulted by approximately four to six teenagers. Cellphone footage captured the end of the attack, showing one teen pulling others away from El-Said, who was left with visible injuries, including blood running down his face.

The Huntington Beach Police Department confirmed that a report was filed, and El-Said managed to detain one of the teens involved. The teen was arrested and cited for misdemeanor battery. El-Said declined medical treatment at the scene but expressed the emotional impact of the incident, stating that more needs to be done to prevent such occurrences. “What needs to happen is they need to focus,” he said, urging law enforcement to disperse such gatherings.

The incident took place a day after an e-bike and e-motorcycle enforcement operation in Huntington Beach, during which numerous citations were issued. The operation targeted the beach bike path, boardwalk areas, parks, and school zones.
