More than 200,000 pairs of heated socks sold at Costco were recalled after more than a dozen reports of customers sustaining first- or second-degree burns, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The CPSC posted the recall on April 32 for “32 Degrees Heated Socks” as they could be an “injury hazard, including burns,” when worn in high-intensity performance activities generating a combination of “heat, excessive friction, moisture and pressure.” The recalled socks were sold between August 2025 and March 2026, according to a letter sent by Costco to its members who purchased the product.
“Costco records indicate that you, or one of your add-on members, have purchased 32 Degrees Heated Socks (items# 1872150, 1913659, 1913660, and 1913661) between August 2025 through March 2026,” the message states. “In cooperation with the u.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 32 Degrees is conducting a voluntary recall of the 32 Degrees HEAT Heated Socks because, when worn during high-intensity activities that generate a combination of heat, excessive friction, moisture and pressure, the socks can pose an injury hazard including burns.
Costco advised members to stop using the socks immediately and return them to the store for a full refund.
