NEWPORT BEACH (CNS) – Suspects robbed one man driving a white Rolls Royce and attempted to rob a second man driving a yellow Ferrari in the parking lot of a Newport Beach shopping center, authorities said Tuesday.
The robbery was reported at around 11:30 p.m. Monday at a parking lot at Fashion Island where witnesses told Newport Beach police that three men wearing ski masks approached the victims and stole one man’s watch and wallet, NBC 4 reported.
The victim who was driving the Ferrari drove away as the suspect attempted to carjack him and one of the suspects, who was armed with a handgun, shot at him, shattering one of the car’s windows, NBC 4 reported.
The victim, who was injured by the broken glass, drove to a gas station and contacted police.
Witnesses said the suspects drove away in a blue Kia sedan.
