Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb co-hosted the TODAY Show for the first time in more than a year after Kotb returning to the show amid Guthrie’s lengthy absence following the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother Nancy.
“Hi, everybody, good morning and welcome to ‘Today.’ Nice to have you with us on a Monday morning,” Guthrie said before turning to Kotb and placing a hand on her arm. “I’m so glad to have you here, Hoda!”
“I’m so happy sitting next to you in this chair again,” Kotb responded as Guthrie added, “Yeah, it’s good. It’s just like the old times!”
Kotb explained that she was filling in for Craig Melvin, who was taking a “well-deserved vacation with his family this week.” Melvin replaced Kotb in 2025 after she announced that she was stepping away from TODAY.
Kotb returned on a temporary basis for two months to fill in for Guthrie amid the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of her mother, which included conducting Savannah’s first public interview. Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1 and investigators have never named any suspect nor had fresh leads in connection with her case.
Multiple purported ransom notes were sent since her disappearance. Savannah Guthrie made her return to the TODAY Show‘s anchor desk hours before the new ransom notes were sent to TMZ last Monday (April 6). The FBI had released doorbell camera footage of an armed and masked man outside her home on the morning she was reported missing.
The bureau described the man in the footage as being 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches with an average build.
