Rory McIlroy is once again the Masters Tournament champion for the second consecutive year.
McIlroy, 36, who completed the career Grand Slam by winning his first Masters Tournament in 2025, finished at (-12), shooting a 71 for the final round at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday (April 12), to win his sixth career major. The Northern Ireland native finished with at least a share of the lead in every round, which included a tournament record six-stroke lead through the first 36 holes.
McIlroy joins an exclusive club of back-to-back Masters champions, which includes Jack Nicklaus (1965-1966), Sir Nick Faldo (1989-1990 and Tiger Woods (2001-2002).
McIlroy, the No. 2 player in the World Golf Rankings, fended off a late push by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who finished at -11 under with a score of 68 in the final round. Scheffler, a two-time Masters champion, improved by 10 strokes during the final two rounds of play after starting at (-1) for the first two rounds.
Four players tied for third at (-10) including Justin Rose, who finished as the runner-up in a playoff with McIlroy in 2025, as well as Tyrell Hatton, who shot a 66 and Russell Henley, who shot a 68 and Cameron Young, the No. 3 player in the World Golf Rankings, who shot a 73.
