Army Aircrew In Kid Rock Viral Video Suspended

The U.S. Army suspended the aircrew who flew military helicopters over the home of musician Kid Rock in a viral video shared this past weekend, an official confirmed to NBC News on Tuesday (March 31).

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, shared two videos of himself standing in the backyard of his Tennessee home as one helicopter hovered close by for several seconds and another flew in the area, with one post bashing Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

“This is a level of respect that s**t for brains Governor of California will never know. God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her,” Ritchie wrote.

The Army confirmed that the aircraft hovering nearby was an AH-64 Apache operating in the Nashville area and claimed that “appropriate action will be taken if any violations are found” prior to the reported suspension decision. A military spokesperson confirmed that the helicopters flew to the Nashville area from the Fort Campbell military base just across the state line in Kentucky.

“Army aviators must adhere to strict safety standards, professionalism, and established flight regulations,” the Army said in a statement obtained by NBC News on Monday (March 30). “An administrative review is underway to assess the mission and verify compliance with regulations and airspace requirements.”

A spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, confirmed that the helicopters weren’t in Nashville for ‘No Kings’ protests that took place in the city and others nationwide, claiming their presence was “entirely coincidental.” Ritchie has been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and “America First” policies in recent years, having performed at the 2024 Republican National Convention and headlined an alternative Super Bowl halftime show presented by Turning Point USA in response to the NFL’s decision to feature Bad Bunny.
