Ford Recalls 254,000 Vehicles Due To Software Issue That Raises Crash Risk

Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 254,000 vehicles in the United States due to a software issue that could disable rearview cameras and other driver-assistance features. The recall, announced last week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), affects certain 2022–2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024–2025 Lincoln Nautilus, 2025 Lincoln Aviator, and 2025 Ford Explorer vehicles.

The problem stems from the Image Processing Module A, which may unexpectedly reset, leading to a loss of the rearview camera image and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as pre-collision assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. According to the NHTSA, this could increase the risk of a crash as it reduces the driver’s ability to detect hazards.

Ford plans to address the issue through a software update to the Image Processing Module A. This update will be available over the air or can be installed at a dealership free of charge. Notifications to affected vehicle owners are expected to be mailed starting March 30, 2026.

Owners can search for their vehicle’s recall status using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA website beginning March 25. Ford encourages owners to contact their customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for further assistance.

Despite the recall, Ford stated that it is not aware of any crashes, injuries, or fires related to the defect.
