Former Syracuse QB Rex Culpepper Dead At 28

Former Syracuse quarterback Rex Culpepper has died at the age of 28 from injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident in Georgia, the New York Post reports.

Culpepper’s fiancée, Savanna Morgan, who he proposed to less than a month prior to his death, confirmed his passing in a post shared on her Instagram account.

“No one expects to meet the love of your life and lose them in only 6 short years after meeting,” Morgan wrote. “Rex didnt always believe in soulmates but towards the end he told me that he didnt realize what having a soulmate felt like until we felt like extensions of each other. And one thing about us is that we lived every single day like it was our last. We did every little thing that we set our minds to, between learning new skills and hobbies, and traveling to new places, there was never any free time with us and not a moment spent apart. I dont regret a single day in our 6 years.

Culpepper primarily serving as a backup quarterback and saw sporadic playing time as a tight end, throwing for 1,546 yards, 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on 139 of 266 passing. The 28-year-old was a three-time ACC honor role member and had been diagnosed with testicular cancer during his second season, having undergone extensive chemotherapy before being declared cancer-free in June 2018.

Culpepper was the son of former NFL defensive tackle Brad Culpepper and his wife, Monica, both of whom appeared on multiple seasons of the reality television series Survivor.
