Trump Laughs While Briefed On Surprising New Iran Leader Allegation: Report

President Donald Trump was stunned during a briefing on newly selected Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei when U.S. intelligence indicated that Khamenei may be gay and that his father, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, therefore feared his suitability to take over the Islamic Republic, the Post reported exclusively on Monday (March 16).

Trump reportedly laughed aloud when he learned the intel, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Several others in the room at the time were also reported to have found the situation “hilarious” and joined in the president’s laughter, while one senior intelligence official reportedly “has not stopped laughing about it for days,” according to another source with knowledge of the briefing.

Two intelligence community officials and a third person close to the White House described the allegation to the Post, with all three sources claiming it is considered by U.S. spy agencies to be credible, rather than false information intended to undermine Khamenei, 56, who took over the Islamic Republic on March 8, days after his father was killed in strikes led by the United States and Israel’s ‘Operation Epic Fury.’ The two sources said intelligence showed that Mojtaba, who was nicknamed “the power behind the robes” while serving as gatekeeper to his father during the later years leading up to his death, had a long-term sexual relationship with a male who served as his childhood tutor.

A third source claimed that intelligence indicated the alleged affair involved a person who worked for the Khamenei family. Mojtaba, who was reportedly wounded in the February 28 airstrike that killed his father and other relatives, made “aggressive” sexual overtures to men taking care of him, potentially while under the influence of heavy medication, one of the sources claimed.

US spy agencies don’t have photographic evidence of Khamenei’s alleged sexual attraction to men, but claim the tip they received is solid as it “derived from one of the most protected sources that the government has.”

“The fact that this was elevated to the highest of high levels shows you there’s some confidence in this,” a second source added.
