President Donald Trump‘s approval rating is reported to be his lowest among independent voters, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.
An estimated 26% of independent voters approve of Trump’s job performance during his second term in office, which is a -15% net decrease from the 41% reported in February 2025, just weeks after he took office. The president is reported to have seen a net percentage decrease in all categories over the past year, which includes a drop from a 48% approval among all adults in February 2025 to 36% (-12%) in February 2026; a decrease from 54% to 40% among men (-14%); a decrease of 42% to 33% (-9%) among women; and even a decrease of 90% to 82% (-8%) among Republicans.
Trump is reported to have an average net approval rating of -13%, with a 42.7% approval and 55.7% disapproval rating, according to Real Clear Polling, which sampled several national polls conducted between January 27 and February 20 including CNN, Rasmussen Reports, ABC/Washington Post/Ipsos, Morning Consult, Yahoo News, the Associated Press/NORC** and NBC News Decision Desk.
Last week, approval rating hit a new low-point for his second term in office, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll. Trump’s overall approval rating in the four-day poll, which concluded on Monday (February 16), is reported to be 38%. The president was previously reported to be at 39% in January, which was a drastic decline from the 50% highpoint shortly after his 2025 inauguration.
A recent ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll showed that a majority 58% said Trump was going “too far” with deportations of undocumented immigrants, which was an increase from the 50% reported in October. Only 12% of respondents claimed the president was “not going far enough” and 28% said he is “handling it about right.”
Half (50%) of Americans support the federal government deporting the estimated 14 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States while 48% oppose these measures. That number has, however, dropped from the reported 56% of Americans who supposed deportation of undocumented immigrants when Trump was elected in 2024 and the 51% reported last February.
