A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the leg of a missing 17-year-old girl was discovered in California’s Salton City desert.
The human remains, found in a vacant lot on December 21, 2025, were confirmed through DNA testing to belong to T’Neya “TT” Tovar, a teenager from Hemet who had been missing since December 1. The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office announced the DNA match on February 12, 2026.
On February 13, a team including SWAT officers and FBI agents executed a search warrant at the Salton City home of Abraham Feinbloom, who had reportedly been acquainted with Tovar. According to reports from local news outlet KESQ, Feinbloom attempted to flee by jumping a fence but was quickly apprehended.
Investigators noted that Feinbloom’s residence is approximately half a mile from where Tovar’s leg was discovered, in a residential development on the western shore of the Salton Sea.
Charro Tovar, T’Neya’s mother, reported last seeing her daughter on December 1 when the teen said she was heading to Palm Springs. When T’Neya failed to return and stopped answering her phone, her family filed a missing person report. The family had previously identified Feinbloom as a “person of interest” on flyers they circulated during their search.
According to a detailed timeline published by KESQ, Tovar’s parents had repeatedly requested welfare checks at Feinbloom’s residence in the weeks following their daughter’s disappearance. Neighbors described the property as a “boarded-up pink house” and referred to Feinbloom as “the scary man in the scary house.”
The investigation has raised questions about the response time of law enforcement. Charro Tovar has expressed frustration that deputies waited more than six weeks to test the leg found in December and that multiple wellness checks never resulted in a search warrant earlier in the investigation.
Only a portion of T’Neya’s remains have been recovered, and investigators have not disclosed a cause of death or whether others might be involved in the case. Feinbloom is currently being held without bail at the Imperial County Jail in El Centro.
The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to a resolution of the case.
