Popular Cookie Recall Over Choking Hazard Expanded

Mondelēz Global announced the expansion of its recall of Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie over a choking hazard to include an additional date code and two more UPCs, the company announced with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recall was initially issued on December 24, 2025, due to an incorrect mixing process that led to small cornstarch clumps capable of causing choking, particularly among young children and elderly consumers. The recalled products now include each of the following, according to the FDA:

  • Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie, 22.4 ounces, eight-count caddie, UPC 44000086688, case GTN 10044000086678 and best-by dates of May 9-12, 2026.
  • Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie, 2.8 ounces, pouch, UPC 4400008667 and best-by dates of May 9-12, 2026.
  • Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie, 7 ounces, five-count, UPC 44000085650, case GTN 10044000085657 and best-by dates of May 10, May 12 and May 18, 2026.
  • Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie, 1.4 ounces, pouch, UPC 4400008566 and best-by dates of May 10, May 12 and May 18, 2026.

No illnesses nor injuries were reported in connection with the recall, which was voluntary. Consumers who have the recalled items are advised not to eat them and instead contact the company at 1-855-535-5948 Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET for more information.
