Longtime Walt Disney Company executive Josh D’Amaro was promoted to CEO, the company announced on Tuesday (February 3) via the New York Post.
D’Amaro, 54, who had previously served as the chairman of Disney Experiences, overseeing the company’s global theme parks, will succeed Bob Iger effective March 18, 2026, the date of the company’s annual meeting. Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden will also be taking on a newly created role as president and chief creative officer, overseeing storytelling and creative strategy while reporting directly to D’Amaro.
Igor, who returned as Disney’s CEO in 2022 after his handpicked successor Bob Chapek was fired, will stay on Disney’s board as a senior adviser until his official retirement on December 31, 2026, the company confirmed in its statement.
“Josh D’Amaro is an exceptional leader and the right person to become our next CEO,” Iger said. “He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand, and a deep understanding of what resonates with our audiences, paired with the rigor and attention to detail required to deliver some of our most ambitious projects. His ability to combine creativity with operational excellence is exemplary and I am thrilled for Josh and the company.”
D’Amaro initially joined Disney in 1998 and served as vice president of sales and travel trade marketing until 2008 before various executive roles within Disney Parks, experiences and products.
