LA28 Olympics Chair Apologizes for Flirty Emails With Maxwell

Casey Wasserman, chairman of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has issued an apology after suggestive emails between him and Ghislaine Maxwell from 2003 were made public in the latest release of the Epstein Files.

The emails, which were among millions of files published by the US Department of Justice on Friday, revealed flirtatious exchanges between Wasserman and Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for recruiting and trafficking teenage girls for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In one exchange from two decades ago, Wasserman wrote to Maxwell: “I think of you all the time… So what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?” according to documents released by the Department of Justice.

“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” Wasserman said in a statement. “I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”

Wasserman, who founded a sports and entertainment agency in 2002 and serves as a trustee of the non-profit Clinton Foundation, acknowledged that he traveled on Epstein’s plane in 2002 during a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation.

“As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane,” Wasserman stated. “I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.”

The revelation comes at an inopportune time for Wasserman, who was scheduled to make a presentation to the International Olympic Committee celebrating the progress of the LA28 Games and had plans to promote the event while in Milan for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

While the files do not show any wrongdoing on Wasserman’s part, they have raised renewed questions about those who associated with Epstein, who died in his New York prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Maxwell agreed last month to testify under oath before the congressional committee investigating the federal government’s handling of the Epstein files. The committee has also summoned both former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to testify.
