Two Suspects Arrested in Copper Theft in Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH( CNS) – Two suspects are in police custody on suspicion of stealing copper in Chatsworth.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called around 2 a .m. Tuesday to 20400 Germaine Street, north of Mason Park regarding a nuisance call. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned two suspects had descended into a manhole in order to steal copper, LAPD Officer Charles Miller told City News Service.

Police took one suspect into custody, but the second suspect refused to come out of the manhole.

After police dropped tear gas cannisters down into the manhole, the second suspect surrendered and was taken into custody at 6 a.m.
