About 200 ducks were discovered in a box truck in Palmdale on Wednesday after their owner passed away.
The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control reported that their Palmdale Animal Care and Control officers responded to the scene following a request from the California Highway Patrol.
The situation was described as both “heartbreaking and unusual” in a Facebook post by the department. The ducks were safely transported from the truck, but details surrounding the owner’s death remain unclear.
The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is currently taking care of the ducks and assessing their condition. The department has not released further information about the potential future homes for the ducks or any ongoing investigations related to the owner’s death.
