Popular Chocolate Bar Recalled Over Potential Serious Contamination

A popular specialty chocolate bar was recalled due to a potential salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced on Monday (January 12).

Spring & Mulberry voluntarily recalled lot #025255 of its Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar (2.1 oz), which has been available for purchase online and in stores nationwide since September 15, 2025, as the potential for contamination was noted following routine testing by a third-party laboratory. The lot #025255 code is listed on the back of the chocolate bar’s packaging and inner flow wrap.

There were no reported illnesses or harmful health effects at the time of the recall being issued on Monday, however, the company said it was being proactive with the specific lot in an effort to protect public health. Salmonella commonly results in several symptoms including fever, stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, and poses a greater risks to infants, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.

Customers who purchased the recalled chocolate bars were advised to throw them away and request a refund by contacting Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com and providing a photo showing the lot code. Consumers can also request more information and assistance by contacting Spring & Mulberry Customer Service at the same recall email address.
