LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Several more demonstrations against federal immigration authorities are scheduled in the Southland Sunday, one day after thousands of people staged marches and other events to protest the recent shooting deaths of a Minneapolis woman and a Northridge man by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
“Ice Out For Good” rallies were scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday in West Hollywood at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd., across from the Pacific Design Center, at noon in Los Angeles at the Home Depot at 2055 N. Figueroa St., and 1 p.m. at Hollywood Boulevard and North Vermont Avenue in Hollywood.
In Orange County, events were scheduled for 11 a.m. in Laguna Hills, noon in Seal Beach at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street, 1 p.m. in Huntington Beach in front of City Hall, and 2 p.m. in Irvine at Col. Bill Barber Memorial Park, 4 Civic Center Plaza.

On Saturday, protesters marched through the downtown LA area to City Hall and past the Edward Roybal Federal Building. It led to the closure of streets in the area, including Alameda, Temple, and Aliso streets.
The Los Angeles Police Department issued a dispersal order about 6:30 p.m. for Alameda Street from Aliso to Temple streets, and a police skirmish line moved a group of demonstrators south on Alameda to Temple. One suspect was detained for suspicion of battery on a police officer, the LAPD stated.
Other demonstrations were held around Southern California, including Long Beach, Woodland Hills,and Pasadena.
As the downtown L.A. protest wound down, relatives of a man who was fatally shot by an off-duty ICE agent in Northridge on New Year’s Eve and civil rights advocates held a candlelight vigil in his memory in Carson that also honored the life of Renee Good, the woman killed in Minneapolis.
