Actor Ian Ziering, known for his role in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” is being sued for assault and battery following a New Year’s Eve incident in 2023.
The lawsuit, filed by Jacob Hernandez in Los Angeles County, accuses Ziering of intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution, negligence, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
The altercation occurred on December 31, 2023, when Hernandez and a friend were riding mini-motorbikes on Hollywood Boulevard. According to TMZ, Hernandez claims that while stopped in front of Ziering’s Mercedes-Benz, the actor exited his car and “with full force shoved” him, causing physical injuries. Hernandez alleges that Ziering’s actions were unprovoked and led to a melee involving multiple individuals.
Ziering, however, has stated that he was trying to assess damage to his vehicle when the situation escalated. He described the incident as an alarming confrontation with a group of bikers who approached aggressively. Ziering’s daughter, Penna, was in the car at the time but was not harmed.
The lawsuit further claims that Ziering used his celebrity status to influence the narrative, leading to Hernandez’s arrest in May 2024 for felony vandalism. The District Attorney’s office later declined to press charges. Hernandez is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, citing significant mental health issues since the incident.
Ziering has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. The case is expected to proceed to trial as Hernandez seeks a jury decision.
